Doug is an environmentalist, advocate, conservationist, environmental educator, sustainability specialist and event organizer. He is Chief Operating Officer, South Florida Audubon Society, Advisory Committee and former Board Member, Audubon Florida.
Currently, Doug is a part-time Parks Naturalist, Environmental Management Group, Broward County Parks and Recreation and a habitat restoration consultant with South Florida Audubon Society.
Mr. Young is an award-winning independent video writer/producer/director for NGOs (non-government organizations), government environmental departments, public utilities and private sector organizations.
He holds a Masters of Environmental Studies (MES) degree from York University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada and was an Assistant Professor at Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He also was a Graduate Assistant at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Massachusetts specializing in air, water and soil sampling for pollution related research. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Mr. Young also holds two Marine Turtle Permits from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and leads a group of 50 Marine Sea Turtle Hatchling Rescue Volunteers on Pompano Beach, Broward County and is an original Member, Broward County Climate Change Task Force. He is also an active member of the Florida Shore and Beach Preservation Association and the SE Florida Shorebird Alliance.
