In 2018, at age 19, Zak was the youngest invididual elected to the South Florida Audubon Society as President while he was an undergraduate student at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida. Zak started as an intern to SFAS and became a permitted Sea Turtle Hatchling Rescue Volunteer. In the summer of 2016, he was a Biological Science Intern at Hot Springs National Park, Hot Springs, Arkansas. In the summer of 2017, he was a Wildlife Biology Intern at Western Arctic National Parklands, Kotzebue, Alaska. In December 2021, Zak began studies at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
