Archive Methodology & Preservation Status
How the Rosyfinch/Nabble Bald Eagle forum is being converted into the South Florida Bald Eagle Watch research collection.
2,353topic pages
5,741individual messages
229author names/usernames
5,952image references
5,568image references resolved in capture
4,977unique captured image files
Message extraction: all 5,741 extracted messages retained a recoverable forum author and timestamp. The full topic parsing pass completed with zero parser failures. Topic title, collection/breadcrumb, message order, original text, source URL and image relationships are retained.
Links and attachments: 10,743 hyperlinks inside message bodies have been indexed, including 80 attachment-style links. These are tracked independently from whether the linked resource was actually captured.
Photo audit still open: 384 image references do not currently resolve to a captured image file. Many point to older Flickr/static-image hosts or legacy attachment paths. They remain explicitly unresolved; the website will not label them preserved until recovered or independently verified.
Preservation Master
The reconstructed SiteSucker ZIP passed integrity testing. Its SHA-256 checksum is:
abe3522d480f97cdc95afc4d7c2adce7762a2c72205caf31e63557d575357c4f
The preservation master remains unchanged. Search indexes, research tables and website pages are derivative working layers so that normalization cannot overwrite the historical source.
Evidence Rules
Original wording and attribution are retained wherever recoverable. Estimated dates remain estimated. Presumed outcomes remain presumed. Usernames are not silently converted into legal identities. A photograph’s association with a message does not automatically prove photographer authorship unless the source supports that credit.
